    Disposition:
★ DETECTIVE - Kirigiri is the "Super High School Level (or in the translation, "Ultimate") Detective", a title that in canon is awarded only to high schoolers who "super-excel at [their] field of expertise." Consequently, a significant portion of her identity is wrapped up in being one of the highest-skilled investigators in the world. Her upbringing was carefully coordinated to emphasize all of the traits that she would need to be the acceptable heir of her family's sleuthing legacy; she is analytical, observant, and genre-savvy, but she can also be emotionally distant, blunt, and callous because she was taught to let nothing stand in the way of making sure a mystery gets solved. In canon, she is frequently the person who solves a murder case first, spotting clues and possibilities that most of the other characters don't. She is also the most dedicated to thoroughly investigating the crime scenes, approaching incredibly gruesome and disturbing spectacles with calm impassivity. She excels at sneaking around and knows the standard tricks of a detective's trade; furthermore, she's frequently the only person managing to keep her cool despite some incredibly emotionally tense situations, and it's very difficult to make her crack under pressure, even when that pressure involves putting her very life on the line. Being a detective is so deeply ingrained in Kirigiri that she continues to live her life by these principles even after having her memories suppressed by the Mastermind. Even when she remembers nothing about who she is or her family's legacy, Kirigiri is a detective, through and through.

★ INDEPENDENT — Kirigiri doesn't hesitate when she's got an objective, and if everyone else isn't on board with what she thinks needs to be done, then she'll just do it on her own. Unfortunately, that tendency to effectively go rogue from the group and disappear for long periods of time without explanation doesn't do a lot to endear her to the rest of her classmates, and even leads to her being suspected of murder at least once because she's not forthcoming with details or giving her classmates much reason to trust her. The fact that she's even a member of Hope's Peak to begin with is because she consciously deviated from her family's policy of "always remaining in the shadows" and deliberately drew attention to herself so that she'd be recruited for the invite-only school, all because her father was the headmaster and she wanted to get into Hope's Peak to confront him. She's comfortable being a loner and doesn't generally go out of her way to make friends, but that doesn't mean she's completely indifferent to friendship and collaboration; by the end of Dangan Ronpa, she's come to put her faith in the protagonist and his ability to unite their group beneath a banner of hope, even if it's not necessarily something she's capable of inspiring in others herself.

★ RUTHLESS — Kirigiri's tendency to put her goals first and other people second comes with consequences. She takes risks with her own safety and with that of others, and when it ultimately came down to a decision of whether to accuse the protagonist of a murder he didn't commit or allow the mastermind to frame her for it instead, Kirigiri opted for her own survival. She's rarely willing to show anyone all the cards she's holding, but when the protagonist withheld information from her, she treated it like a betrayal. Kirigiri is someone who isn't afraid to do what she thinks is necessary in order to reach the outcome she wants, whether it be preying on exact words and technicalities to loophole her way into things, using her unsuspecting classmates as decoys to hide her own movements, or crossing boundaries that others might shy away from. She's also a skilled bluffer and manipulator, as shown when she's able to get Mondo and Celes to incriminate themselves during their respective trials. If Kirigiri thinks something needs to get done, she'll use whatever tactics she thinks is necessary to achieve it and deal with the ramifications later.

★ FAMILY ISSUES — Kirigiri's grandfather raised her in an environment that left little room for anything but detective work, and actively encouraged her to resent her father for "abandoning" her when he left the family after her mother's death. Though as a child she was given essentially free rein to do as she pleased if it was for the purpose of solving mysteries, she was also forbidden from having a cell phone and it's implied she had few to no friends in her youth. In short, Kirigiri's personal life has always been one of loss, distance, and other people's bad priorities, and she unfortunately bears the emotional scars of that.

    Under pressure:
Well, the most significant change about Kirigiri's arrival in Noctium will be the fact that she's no longer an amnesiac locked in a murder can with fourteen quasi-strangers who are all being incentivized to kill each other by a sociopathic teddy bear! Hooray...

In a broader sense, however, the lack of that immediate and perpetual threat will mean that Kirigiri actually has some downtime to process the trauma she went through during her time at Hope's Peak — including but not limited to 1) watching multiple people get murdered in almost comically gruesome fashions, 2) sending a few of those aforementioned people to their deaths personally, 3) manipulating her closest ally into taking the fall instead of her in a case where she was being framed to look like the culprit, and 4) finding the desecrated remains of her father gift-wrapped like a birthday present and left for her specifically as a reward for advancing in her investigations. The timeline of Dangan Ronpa is such that the students have to leave the school almost immediately following their confrontation with the mastermind, and that's the point when Kirigiri is coming in from. Consequently, she really won't have had any time between the high-stakes adrenaline of surviving murderschool and the abrupt lack of imminent danger that Noctium generally presents instead.

Additionally, transitioning from an atmosphere where trust was always in short supply into one where survival depends on building an emotional rapport with others will be difficult for her at first, and a challenge for her to overcome. As detailed above in her Disposition section, Kirigiri spent most of her formative years discouraged from developing bonds with others, and has only just recently begun to put her faith in the power of hope and teamwork. Though she'll be able to see the merits of Synchrony in objective theory, achieving it in practice may not be so easy.

Given time, she'll still absolutely want to explore the mysteries of the Gembonded and what's going on with the Burnished Crater (it's Kirigiri, she'll never be able to entirely turn off her instinct to investigate and solve mysteries) but in the long-term it'll also be a respite for her to be able to just form meaningful bonds with people, develop some semblance of a support network, and decompress in circumstances where death isn't always imminent.

    Condition upon arrival:
She's in good physical condition, as of the time of her arrival! Emotionally she's got some problems, including a lot of repressed guilt and some unaddressed trauma about her deceased father, but in terms of things that would be considered immediate or life-threatening, nah, she's fine.

    Abilities:
INVESTIGATIVE SKILLS — Largely already touched on above, but Kirigiri is recognized as the "Ultimate" Detective for a reason. She's smart, well-read, observant, and clever, with a knack for manipulating people and turning flashes of intuition into coherent theories.

SELF-DEFENSE — Though she's not on the same level as a few of her classmates whose talents are specifically sports-related, Kirigiri is still in good physical condition and reasonably athletic. We also know that she's capable of holding her own in an unarmed fight against an armed assailant, as demonstrated when she rescues Naegi from death at the hands of the Mastermind, who turns up in his room in the dead of night brandishing a hunting knife. It's also very likely that some form of self-defense was integrated into her detective training under her grandfather, given that he seems to have some expertise in winning physical altercations as well.

FUNCTIONING UNDER STRESSFUL CONDITIONS — Kirigiri is able to stay on-target and function at a high degree of effectiveness even under significant stress. She regularly runs on very little to no sleep while investigating the mysteries of Hope's Peak, and she's able to keep a level head even in the face of aggressive, dangerous, or emotionally taxing situations. It's not that she's unaffected by those circumstances by any means; she's just good at compartmentalizing and staying focused on her goals. Most significantly, during the Bad End scenario where she's found guilty of murder and sentenced to death by being flattened under a gigantic Thwomp-like crusher, she keeps a straight face and silent pose even as the stress of knowing she's about to die mounts.

DEATH CLAIRVOYANCE — According to Kirigiri in Dangan Ronpa proper, she recognized that Naegi was about to be murdered by the Mastermind (and thus rushed to intervene) because she heard "the footsteps of the god of death", and that's what signaled her to take action. Unfortunately, it turns out that this wasn't just Kirigiri being pretentious; in Dangan Ronpa Kirigiri, it's confirmed that this is apparently a thing that some detectives are just able to do, and Kirigiri is one of them. She specifically senses impending death by "hearing footsteps", whereas a different detective claims to be able to "see a shadow". Because this is incredibly dumb, I've chosen to play this as though Kirigiri is just mildly spiritually sensitive, and thus just sort of on the right wavelength to pick up on things of that nature.
